What’s On Your Kid’s Agenda This Summer?

Summer is by far our favorite time of year here at Kaiser Realty, for one simple reason, the beach.

There is just something about the allure of the ocean, the grains of sand clinging to your feet and the sweet smell of the Gulf breeze surrounding you. Yep, you just can’t beat the beach.

When it comes to those days spent away from the dunes, however, things have a tendency to get a little more hectic. With no school to occupy the kiddos, summer can also mean a stressful three months for parents.  Luckily, we have some rockin’ summer camps in the area to keep the children in your life busy, happy and most importantly, learning!

For those of you in the Mobile area, The Exploreum might just be the answer to your every wish.  They have weekly camps starting on June 6th and running every week until July 29th.  They are offering camps for everyone from 4 year-olds all the way to 12th grade students and everyone in between.  The Exploreum is also offering a wide variety of different camps.  Your little ones can spend their time learning about the weather during the “Wonders of the Weather” camp, learn some nutritional advice during “You Are What You Eat,” learn about the planets during “Spaced Out,” and much more during one of these summer camps.

The summer camps at the Exploreum run Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Visit The Exploreum’s web site for more details.

If South Baldwin County is closer on your radar, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach can also filled the summer camp bill.  The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is offering “Zoo Camp” from June 20th to the 24th.  “The goal of Zoo Camp is to give children the opportunities for an enriching hands-on experience that will help them develop deeper understanding and respect for animals,” says Patti Hall, Zoo Director.  The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is offering half day camps for your three to five year-olds and full day’s camps for those five to 11 years-old.  Both age groups will be participating in fun games, zoo related activities such as meeting the animals, and even arts and crafts.

Visit the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo web site for more details.

If the arts are more up your family’s alley, than may we suggest the “Summer Arts Camp,” hosted by the Orange Beach Art Center? This week long camp will run from June 27th to July 1st and is a full day from 9 am to 3:15 pm everyday.  The camp is open to those in 1st grade through 6th grade and is sure to spark your child’s imagination.  Each child will receive their own personalized schedule based on their interests and the activities will include everything from dance, drama, music and of course, the visual arts.

For more information on “Summer Arts Camp,” please visit the Orange Beach Art Center’s web site.

For those looking for a late summer option, Ocean Camp, located at the Faulkner State Gulf Shores campus, is a real crowd pleaser.  July 12th kicks off the “Coral Reef” segment for campers ages 6 through 12.  For a real underwater adventure, “Dive Deep Explorers” begins on July 19th, and offers those interested in SCUBA or snorkeling a better idea of what is involved.

For more information on Ocean Camp, visit their Facebook page.

We hope you enjoy summer your summer as much as we do and these camps are sure to make everyone’s vacation a little brighter.
