Slip and slide your way into the New Year!

Join fellow Polar Bear Dippers on New Years Day at the Main Beach in Gulf Shores for a non-traditional Polar Bear Dip. The party starts at 11 a.m. and the dip will be at 12 p.m. with the party continuing through out the day.

The local Kiwanians, along with The Hangout and the City of Gulf Shores, will set a 33 foot slip and slide that will drop Polar Bear Dippers right into the Gulf of Mexico.

All participants will be treated to a FREE buffet at The Hangout directly after your chilly plunge into the New Year. Prizes for the best costume and the best team will also be presented after the Dip at The Hangout along with a special cash award and trophy for the Snowbird Club with the most number of participants.

Join people from all walks of life as they take an icy plunge into the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday, January 1st at the Flora-Bama.

The Polar Bear Dip will be held at high noon following Worship on the Water. There will be live music through out the day on the several different stages and they will also be serving up the traditional New Year treat, Black Eyed Peas, complimentary of the Flora-Bama.

Come out and join hundreds of Polar Bear Dippers, some in costumes or just in their regular swimming attire, as they take “the dip” to ring in the New Year.

The classic “Polar Bear Dip” at the Flora-Bama will be celebrating the 27th running of the event at 12:00 p.m. on January 1, 2013 as tradition has dictated for nearly three decades. Hurling their, often costumed, bodies into the frigid waters has not only become a media spectacle for onlookers and restaurant patrons alike, but has become a community event bringing generations of adrenaline junkies together each year.
