GULF SHORES AND ORANGE BEACH, ALA. – Raise your glasses to fun, entertainment and welcoming new opportunities. Celebrate coastal style and begin your New Year’s resolutions on Pleasure Island. Here is an assortment of New Year’s festivities in the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach area.

Now through Jan. 1
Ice Rink at The Wharf

The Wharf (23101 Canal Road, Orange Beach)
6 – 8 p.m.
While this area is better known for soft, white-sand beaches rather than icicles and snowflakes, The Wharf is offering an ice rink for the holiday season with skate rentals and refreshments available.

Dec. 29
Flora-Bama’s 25th Annual Make it to the Line Run/Walk

Flora-Bama (17401 Perdido Key Drive, Pensacola)
10 a.m.
Work off those unwanted holiday pounds with this festive 4 mile run/walk. Registration is $25 after Dec. 10 and $30 on the day of the race. Register at www.active.com/running/perdido-key-fl/make-it-to-the-line-4-mile-run–walk-and-1-mile-fun-run-2012.

Dec. 30
Ginny Lane presents Bands Barks & Brews
Ginny Lane Bar and Grille (4780 Wharf Parkway, Orange Beach)
3 – 7 p.m.
Enjoy the evening with your favorite furry friends. This event features a leash free area on The Wharf’s Marina Lawn and free live music. A percentage of food, alcohol, soda and t-shirt sales will be donated to the Baldwin County Humane Society.

Dec. 31
Noon Year’s Eve
LuLu’s at Homeport Marina (200 Easy 25th Ave., Gulf Shores)
10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Looking for family friendly New Year’s Eve festivities? Look no further than LuLu’s. There will be a countdown to “Noon Year” followed by a balloon drop at noon, arts and crafts and live entertainment for all.

7th Annual New Year’s Eve Bash
The Wharf (23101 Canal Road, Orange Beach)
7 p.m.
You will not want to miss the fireworks, live entertainment and much more during this free event to the public. In order to provide a family-friendly atmosphere, an alcohol-free zone will be available with bungee jumps, ice skating and more. You will also have the opportunity to purchase VIP packages for $75 each including unlimited beer, wine, hors d’oeuvres and first-class seating for the midnight fireworks display.

Early Bird New Year’s Eve Bash
Erie Meyer Civic Center (1930 West 2nd Street, Gulf Shores)
7 p.m.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve with the Christian Service Center (CSC) for this festive event. Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door and may be purchased via PayPal or credit card by visitingwww.brentburns.com. Each table will have the opportunity to decorate and compete for “Most Outrageous,” “Most Original” and “Most Elegant” table. The winner of each category will receive prizes for their creative efforts. Attendees will need to bring their own food, drinks (alcohol permitted) and table décor. Glitter, confetti and open flames are strictly prohibited. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for table decorating.

Flora-Bama New Year’s Eve Bash
Flora-Bama (17401 Perdido Key Drive, Pensacola)
7 p.m.
Dance the night away and ring in the new year with music, friends and fun at the Flora-Bama. General admission tickets in advance are $40 and $45 the day of the event for adults ages 18 and up. Attendees with general admission tickets will enjoy a dinner buffet, party favors, champagne (ages 21 and up) and breakfast. The $100 VIP ticket includes unlimited champagne (ages 21 and up), souvenirs, party favors and a deluxe buffet. Those ages 18 to 20 will be charged a $10 cover at the door in addition to each ticket price. All guests will be entered to win great prizes.

Flora-Bama Polar Bear Dip
Flora-Bama (17401 Perdido Key Drive, Pensacola)
12 p.m.
Wash all your cares away and start 2013 right by jumping into the Gulf of Mexico with your friends and family.

2nd Annual Slip & Slide Polar Bear Dip
The Hangout/Gulf Shores Public Beach, Gulf Shores
12 p.m.
Take a ride down a “slip ‘n slide” and take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico to let go of the past and celebrate the future, courtesy of the local Kiwanis Club in cooperation with The Hangout and the City of Gulf Shores. The event is free, but a $15 t-shirt purchase will serve as admission for a post-dip breakfast buffet at The Hangout. There will be prizes for the best costumes and the best teams and a cash award and trophy will be presented to the snowbird club with the largest number of participants.

Bluegrass by the Tracks
Wales West RV Resort (13670 Smiley St., Silverhill)
7 – 9 p.m.
Enjoy live bluegrass, gospel and classic country music at Wales West RV Park and Light Railway for a $5 donation. Refreshments will be served and train rides will be accessible.
