The Top Five “Must Have” Items for Hangout Music Fest!

The Entrence to Hantgout fest 2010Hangout Music Fest is one of the most exciting weekends of the year in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach! More than 30,000 people travel into town for the three-day music festival on the beach bringing good vibes and a lot of fun to the area! If you are planning on visiting us for the 2012 Hangout Music Festival from May 18th through the 20th, you will definitely want to keep in mind this list of  “TOP 5 Items to Bring” to make sure you have a safe, exciting and all around enjoyable music festival experience!

Number 1: Sun Screen (Non-Aerosal). This may seem like a “no-brainer” now, but when the excitement of the festival begins, it will be easy to forget even the most important of festival gear. Aerosal sprays will not be allowed within the festival grounds and will be thrown away during bag check upon entry, so be sure to get your favorite non-aerosal version. To make sure that you stay safe while “hanging out” in the sun for multiple days, opt for water-proof/resistant variations with a strong SPF rating.

Number 2: Re-Usable Plastic Water Bottles: Even though outside food and drink are not allowed to pass the entry gates, festival organizers and volunteers want to make sure that everyone has a fun AND safe time throughout the weekend.  This means making sure that you stay hydrated. Complimentary water stations will be available all over the festival grounds, and by bringing a large water bottle, you can spend more time in front of the stage listening to your favorite band! .

Number 3: Towels and/or Blankets: Once inside the festival grounds, people like to set up their own spot in front of where the majority of the bands they want to see will be playing.  Since umbrellas and large, hard-sided coolers are prohibited, the best way to stake your spot on the beach is with a couple of beach towels or blankets. Plus, it gives you a nice, soft place to rest between shows!

Number 4: Sunglasses, Hats and Lightweight Clothing: You may be wondering why we are reminding you to bring these basic beach essentials, but once you get into the festival, you will soon be taken aback by how many people seem to forget to bring these items! Hats and sunglasses are going to help keep you cool and comfortable, and opt for models with high UV protection if possible.  Try to stay away from your favorite dark colored t-shirts as well; focus on bringing light, neutral colored shirts to make sure that you are not drawing unwanted UV rays your way!

Number 5: Small Bag or Backpack: You will probably not want to bring that ultra-sized beach bag you normally take down to the beach, however, a small bag or backpack is perfect for hauling around your festival goods and goodies throughout the weekend! Opt for bags with water bottle holders on the outside so that you don’t find yourself having to take your bag completely off every time you want a sip of water. Bags are also a great place to put valuable such as a wallet or a (non-professional) camera!

We hope this list has helped you focus on what you need to pack for this year’s upcoming Hangout Music Festival in order to help make it the best experience possible!
